Information
The emblem of the city of Cottbus is the Spremberger tower built in the 13th century.
He belonged to water-jump and stronghold next to city wall, portcullis, to the national defence premises of the town.
In 1810 a large portion of the tower collapsed, 1823 it resulted newly according to plans of Schinkel. Its height of today amounts to around 29 metres. It is the "thick" the town with a base diameter of almost 9 metres. The tower has one clock since 1906.
Extensive rehabilitation work made it possible to climb the tower and to enjoy a view of the city of Cottbus today.
